I love traveling and giving percussion residencies. Working with students is a big passion of mine and one of the most rewarding things I do as a musician. If you’re interested in hosting me at your college, university, or high school for a residency, please get in touch! Here are some things I can offer:
Concert of my music: In these concerts, I ask that students and faculty join me to perform my chamber works. Here’s an example from University of Tennessee at Martin:
This is a fun experience as it allows me and students to rehearse and perform together, giving students insight into my compositions and playing style. I can also perform a few solo works at these concerts.
Clinics: I offer a variety of clinics, including Intro to Composing. I meet many young musicians who want to compose music, but don’t always know where to start, or don’t know how to expand a musical idea they’ve created into something bigger. This clinic gives insights into these topics and offers ideas to get started.
I also offer a lecture in Music Entrepreneurship, which I’ve given at numerous universities around the U.S. This lecture focuses on the current state of the music industry and offers ideas and insights on reaching new audiences, creating new opportunites, along with an open Q&A session with students and faculty.
These clinics can also be combined with more traditional percussion masterclasses and coaching sessions, where I listen to student performances and offer musical ideas and suggestions. If you have questions about a possible residency at your school, get in touch via my contact page.
