Driven (2017) was written for Drew Tucker and premiered at the first annual MalletLab Summer Mallet Intensive in Delray Beach, FL. It is scored for percussion duo, (4.5 octave marimba +kick drum, vibraphone + snare drum), and audio track accompaniment.

Drew Tucker might be the hardest working person I know. He has a drive to not only present percussion music in new ways, but to teach young musicians through a holistic educational philosophy that encompasses far more than just percussion. He is passionate about making his audiences and students better people through his music, and does so through a counterculture mindset. I love that.

Like Drew, I wanted to push the envelope with Driven. It requires each player to simultaneously perform on a mallet instrument while also navigating a kick drum and snare drum, respectively, creating a broken-beat style groove that underlies a rave-like audio track.
